The pilgrim walks are designed around spiritual needs, emotional needs and physical needs being met. Belinda heard that her God walks and when she heard that, she decided in response to do that, to go walking with God. So for anyone who is needing answers or needs to take time out to reflect deeply, this Pilgrim walk are specifically for you!
The Karoo walk around the Compassberg is a world-class experience. You will walk safely in extremely remote areas of the Karoo with lots of game and vast expanses as your companions. The overnight stays are exceptional and you will walk approximately 20 km a day.
New pathways are emerging and we have added Holy Hogsback to our walking paradises! We walk through sacred spaces, avoiding tourism and commercialism, seeking out the stories behind the scenery. We meet the remnant on the mountain, sharing testimonies of God’s goodness and grace. We walk creatively, navigating dramatic weather, places and spaces.
Where did it all start?…
In Belinda’s own words:
“About 4 years ago I had hit another deep low in my life/ I had lost faith in all that I had held so dear. I was in deep crisis. Our village was in crisis too. I knew I needed miracles.
I heard a well known teacher say our God walks. It ministered so deeply to me, my response to hearing this was….if my God walks, then I am gonna go walking with my God…
In 2016 together with a dear neighbour I walked over 100 km around the famous Compassberg and miracles started to happen, mostly in my heart and in the hearts of others. Again in 2017 I walked around the mountain for a second time- with more neighbours and realised the unmeasurable value of this Camino experience. Last September, 3 months after I walked around the Compassberg, with 2 other pilgrims, I walked another road out of Nieu Bethesda, along the Erasmuskloof road to Graaff Reinet, a distance of 110 km.
I was AMAZED. There is nothing more life changing than walking long distances on remote roads in nature. The inward journey is given freedom as we walk and process and pray. Miracles happen every day. We learn to recognise them. Prayer should be a constant dialogue with God. A lifestyle of prayer is what I try to integrate…. Camino means highway in spanish and Belinda believes that to do this camino is to walk the highway of holiness.
